Drinks and Nibbles
Our pre-Christmas Drinks and Nibbles get together will be held at the Learning Centre on Wednesday 7 December from 5.00 to 7.00 pm. Members and partners are invited (RSVP required though for catering purposes).
Please contact Teresa, (04) 298 3132 if you and your partner wish to attend. There is no charge.
Mobile Phone Recycling Scheme
You will notice the new freepost envelopes at SeniorNet Kapiti for recycling your old mobile phone. RE:mobile has launched with Sustainable Coastlines, which is a young, multi award winning New Zealand charity who will continue the collection of old mobile phones.
Anyone curious as to why Starship are no longer recycling old phones can read their article here.
Remember to tell your friends that our Beginners (Introduction to Computers) Course is free to members.
The charge for our regular Workshops is $5.00 per session. Remember that we run Q&A, iPad and Android tablet/phones Workshops each month and no prior booking is required. Click to see our Workshop and Special Interest Group (SIG) Timetable. If you’ve already completed a Course and need some additional help to clarify a few points we are, as always, delighted to help at one of our regular How Do I…? Workshops. The charge varies depending on how long we spend helping you.
Tutors and Assistant Tutors Wanted
We always need Tutors and Assistant Tutors so please contact Kuini at email@example.com and she will discuss the options with you. Join our friendly and supportive group and bring your ideas forward for discussion. After every meeting members are heard to say… I wish I had known that… easy when you know how… I need to do the course. Experienced senior/lead Tutors are there to train you to become Assistant Tutors and this is also a great opportunity to keep up with all the latest advances in the computer world.
Tutors are encouraged to keep themselves up-to-date so why not enrol in a course or volunteer as an Assistant on a course you’ve not been involved in before.
Our Website – Staying Connected!
A lot of time and effort goes into managing the SeniorNet Kapiti website so that our members can keep up to date with what’s happening in and around The Learning Centre. We also use the website to inform our members about trends and happenings in Information Technology through regular articles written by Thor, Bunkshyde, Scangen and others (all members of SeniorNet). If you want to be informed when new articles appear, you need to go to the website and click on the button which appears at the bottom right-hand side of your browser. Enter your email address and click Sign me up. After that you’ll get a short email from “Wordpress” when new material is posted. Your email address is kept in the strictest confidence and never shared with anyone else.
Have fun computing
